Stiles to Lead Golden Eagle Softball

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – University of Charleston Athletic Director Dr. Bren Stevens announced Wednesday afternoon that Kimberly Stiles will be the next Golden Eagle softball head coach entering the 2016-17 academic year.

Stiles joins the UC Athletic Department staff after spending the last six seasons (2011-16) as head softball coach at Davis & Elkins College.  She posted a 33-win season in 2016 and has won at least 20 games in four of her six seasons at the helm of Senator softball, the only four in the past 22 seasons at Davis & Elkins.

Stiles also served Davis & Elkins in additional administrative roles, acting as the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Senior Woman Administrator.

Prior to taking over Senator softball in 2011, she was on staff at Midwestern State where as an assistant her team finished the 2010 season with a 54-10 record. In addition, the Mustangs were named Lone Star Conference Regular Season Champions and NCAA Division II South Central Regional Finalists.  Stiles and the rest of the softball staff at Midwestern State were named South Central Region Coaching Staff of the Year by the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association. She also served as a member of MSU's faculty during her tenure there acting as an instructor in the Department of Kinesiology.

Stiles, a native of Thurmont, Md., played initially at the University of Vermont before transferring to University of Pittsburgh for her final three seasons.  At both stops she earned conference academic honors from the American East and Big East while earning a B.A. in Communications and Political Science.  She later earned a M.S. in Kinesiology/Sport Administration from Midwestern State University.
