University of Charleston Athletics

Barnes, a 1981 graduate of University of Charleston, was inducted into the Golden Eagle Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. Barnes played baseball for the University of Charleston (1979-81) and twice was voted captain for the team. 

He was a 3 year letter winner, NAIA All-American, WVIAC All-Conference and a member the WVIAC Conference Championship squad of 1981.

Jeff Barnes played professionally for 3 years for the Texas Rangers and later held the National Record in the Bench Press.
