Women's Soccer Sets Program Record For Wins

Shepherd Game Box Score

East Stroudsburg Box Score

Charleston, W.Va. -
Courtney Cole (White Sulpher Springs, WV / WV Wesleyan College) found the back of the net with both shots she took in a 3-0 win over conference opponent Shepherd.

The win improved Charleston's overall record this season to 11-3-1, which sets a program record for wins in a season improving on ten win seasons in 2006 & 2008.

The Golden Eagles dominated possession throughout the game out-shooting the Rams 25-3 for the contest.

Junior Samantha Smith (Manassa, VA / Osbourne Park) gave UC the early advantage as she knocked a header past Shepherd goalkeeper Tessa Jones off a corner kick from Elyse Surbaugh (Virginia Beach, VA / Ocean Lakes) just 3:16 into the game.

Just 30 seconds later Cole struck for the first time giving the University of Charleston a comfortable 2-0 lead as she chipped the ball into the goal off a great pass from Ashley Klemkowsky (Morgantown, WV / Morgantown). Cole closed the day's scoring with a one-timer past Jones at the 13:10 mark to give UC a 3-0 lead and all the offense in would need to secure the WVIAC victory.

Sunday's Game:

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -
East Stroudsburg out shot Charleston 13-7 to slip past the home team on Senior Day at Schoenbaum Stadium with a 1-0 win.

Megan Keiser slipped the ball past Catherine Perry (Hampton, VA / Kecoughtan) in the 13th minute for the days only score. Perry would have a solid day in goal despite the early score as she recorded seven saves.
