Box Score

CHARLESTON, W.Va.
- The University of Charleston women's soccer team won its fifth-straight game as the Golden Eagles used a big second half to seal a 6-2 win at WVIAC opponent Concord, Tuesday afternoon.

Courtney Cole (White Sulpher Springs, WV / WV Wesleyan College) scored the first goal of the match in the first five minutes off of an assist from freshman, Madeleine Hartz (Cincinnati, OH / Madeira). Concord would draw level at half when Nicole Dirnagl scored in the 38th minute. UC held the advantage in shots at halftime 12-3.

Once the second half whistle sounded, the Golden Eagles went on to score four goals in the first ten minutes of the second half. Hartz scored an unassisted goal then found Cole for a one touch finish past the Concord keeper just minutes later. The next goal occurred when Concord keeper, Kacey Hildebrand, broke off of her line as Brittany Loveland (Cheswick, PA / Springdale) ran free in the Concord defense. Loveland chipped over the keeper from outside the 18 as the two collided to make the score 4-1. Within the same time frame, senior Ashley Klemkowsky (Morgantown, WV / Morgantown) hit a one time shot from outside the 18-yard box on a ball played from Samantha Smith (Manassa, VA / Osbourne Park) off the end line to make the score 5-1. Concord’s Erika Hoff would score in the 62nd minute off of a through ball played by Kelsey Ballard to make the score 5-2.

UC’s woman-of-the-match, Madeleine Hartz, scored the game’s final goal in the 84th minute. Hartz finished the day with two goals and two assists as the Golden Eagles defeated Concord by a final of 6-2.

UC will travel to the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown to play a noon match on Saturday. UC improves their record to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the conference.
