Box Score
WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Charleston committed 19 turnovers and shot a season-low 35 percent from the floor (26-of-75) as the Golden Eagles dropped a 65-56 decision to conference opponent West Liberty, Thursday evening.
Leading scorer Lindsey Kentner managed to bucket 16 points on an off-night as the usually sharp shooting guard managed just 8-of-18 shooting, which included an unusual 0-for-6 effort behind the three-point line. Kentner entered the contest averaging a league leading 22.5 points per game and 3.75 three-point field goals per game.
The conference leading Hilltoppers (6-1, 3-0) did not have a much better night shooting as they also only netted 35 percent of their shots, yet were able to nail 8-of-30 attempts beyond the arc to stave off a dominant Golden Eagles inside game. UC outrebounded WLU 58-39, yet the Hilltoppers stayed afloat with three-point baskets and by going 9-for-11 from the foul line. Charleston shot just 3-of-9 at the charity stripe for the game.
Tiana Beatty was the only other Golden Eagle with double digit scoring as she concluded the evening with 10 points and six rebounds. Tarenna Dixon led all players in the game with 11 rebounds to keep UC within striking distance on a night where the basket seemed to have a lid on it.
UC will look to bounce back on Saturday night (Dec. 4) at 6:00 pm as conference opponent Alderson-Broaddus visits Eddie King Gym on the University of Charleston campus.
