CALIFORNIA, Pa. - The University of Charleston women's soccer team narrowly fell to No. 8 ranked California (Pa.) 1-0, Sunday afternoon.

The Vulcans outshot the Golden Eagles 34-1 en route to a 1-0 victory. Charleston played well defensively, while goalkeeper Catherine Perry registered 16 saves to keep the Golden Eagles within reach for the entire contest.

“Catherine came up big on several occasions in the goal. Cat was very confident and comfortable. Our defense was well organized against a very good Vulcan squad. Cal was picked to finish first in the PSAC and is a top 10 nationally ranked team. This game will benefit the team in the long run. You are only as good as the competition you play.
