Philippi, W.Va. - Kasie Shoemaker handed Alderson-Broaddus a conference win when she scored with just 28 clicks remaining in a double-overtime win against the University of Charleston women's soccer team, Wednesday afternoon.
The Battlers (8-5-2, 5-1-1) commanded possession for much of the contest to outshoot Charleston (4-8-1, 3-3-1) 24-10.
Golden Eagle goalkeeper
Catherine Perry (Hampton, VA) kept her squad within reach for the entire contest as her excellent work between the pipes forced the game into double-overtime. Perry booked nine saves on the afternoon allowing the only score as the game clock dwindled away in the final overtime period.
Charleston's offense forced A-B keeper Kate Laird to make eight saves in the win as 80 percent of the Golden Eagles' shots were on goal in the game.
The loss puts UC in a battle for a WVIAC playoff birth with two conference games remaining. Charleston hits the field next on the road at Shepherd for an 11:00 am matchup on Saturday, Oct. 22.
