CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Alderson-Broaddus got its best look at goal just two minutes into the game and made it count against the University of Charleston women's soccer team en route to a 1-0 win over the Golden Eagles, Thursday afternoon.

Nicole Lehman gave the visiting Senators the early advantage after she slipped into the middle of an awakening Charleston defense and chipped an easy shot just over UC goalkeeper Jennifer Poppe (Barrie, Canada) after just 1:41 of play.

For the rest of the afternoon, Alderson-Broaddus was content on playing defense and sitting on the advantage playing 10 defenders on the visitors half of the field and forcing the Golden Eagles offense to fight through multiple layers of Senators.

Charleston outshot A-B 11-7 in the game with multiple looks at the goal, but All-WVIAC keeper Kate Laird booked three saves on UC's best attempts. Poppe closed out the Alderson-Broaddus offense for the rest of the day with five saves, but the lone mark early would be the only points scored for the contest.

The team returns to the pitch on Monday, Oct. 15 for a home contest against non-conference opponent WV Tech at 3:00 pm.
