VIENNA, W.Va. -
Renee Boudreau (Livonia, MI) scored twice in the final 20 minutes of play to secure a 4-2 victory for the University of Charleston women's soccer team over conference opponent Ohio Valley, Saturday morning.
OVU scored just two minutes into the game to hand the home squad an immediate 1-0 lead, which would hold true for 20 more minutes of game time. Charleston (7-8-3) got the game tying score in the 21st minute when
Brittany Loveland (Cheswick, PA) found the back of the net off a feed from
Elyse Surbaugh (Virginia Beach, VA). The 1-1 tie was the look of the scoreboard heading into the locker rooms at halftime.
UC took the first touch after half and went straight to the goal for the go-ahead goal when Surbaugh found herself alone in front of the goal for her team-leading fifth goal of the season at 45:48.
Ohio Valley made a game out of it midway through the second half with another game-tying goal, but Boudreau came through for the Golden Eagles in the 71st and 83rd minutes to put the game in the win column. Kelsey LaCroix and Loveland each were credited with assists on the Boudreau scores.
Jennifer Poppe (Barrie, Canada) recorded the win in goal for the University of Charleston, her third of the season.
Charleston closes regular-season play on Tuesday, Oct. 23 with a trip to conference opponent Wheeling Jesuit for a 7:00 pm contest.
