JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - Behind a flurry of shots the University of Charleston women's soccer team moved their unbeaten streak to six games with a 1-0 upset of Pitt-Johnstown on the road, Tuesday evening.
Charleston (5-5-1) opened the game controlling possession as has become a major factor in their mid-season turnaround, which led to a 12-6 advantage in shots after the first half with neither team able to find the back of the net.
It didn't take long into the second half though for the Golden Eagles to get their game turned on again as 15 minutes into the period
Brittany Loveland (Cheswick, PA) found
Renee Boudreau (Livonia, MI) streaking past the Mountain Cat defense. Boudreau collected the pass and slammed it home for what became the game-winner.
UPJ threatened very little in the second half with UC holding a 23-9 shot advantage for the contest needing
Courtney Budd (Egg Harbor, NJ) to book just four saves in goal.
UC is now 5-0-1 over their last six games to pull back into the WVIAC Championship race. Boudreau and crew continue their Pennsylvania road tour on Friday with a regional matchup at Millersville with the game set to begin at 4:00 pm.
