Box Score

ATHENS, W.Va. - Jolysa Brown was too much for the University of Charleston women's basketball team to corral as Concord dropped the Golden Eagles 70-58 in Athens, Wednesday evening.

Both teams shot 32 percent from the floor in the first half with the Mountain Lions (18-6, 15-5) hitting two late three-pointers to take a six point (31-25) advantage into the locker room at the break.

Charleston played a strong up-tempo throughout the second half and improved their shooting to 44 percent to cut the home team lead to as few as four points in the second. Brown's presence under the basket just couldn't be countered by the Golden Eagles as each time the visitors got back within reach Concord would pull away to a 10 point lead.

The game was close for the duration, but UC was just unable to make any strong headway into the deficit with CU running away late to secure the 70-58 win.

Lauren Davis (Cincinnati, OH) led the way offensively for Charleston with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, while fellow guard Chrissy Keir (Savreville, NJ) dropped an 11 point and four rebound effort into the scorebook.

UC will wrap up regular season play with a trip to Kanawha Valley rival WV State on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2:00 pm. The Golden Eagles will be playing for a WVIAC Tournament first round home game when they face the Yellow Jackets, Charleston currently sits in eighth place in the conference standings which is the final home game slot for the tournament.
