CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The University of Charleston women's soccer team bolstered its offense for the 2012 season with the addition of Canadian Rachel McCormick as announced by head coach Todd Diuguid, Friday afternoon.
McCormick has played for the Erin Mills Soccer Club for the past 12 years. Most recently Rachel played in the U18 OYSL league. Her team successes have been, among others, CASL North Carolina Divisional Champions, Eagle Cup Champions, Division Champions, as well as, both Indoor and Outdoor Ontario Cup Champions.
Rachel will complete her Erin Mills soccer years playing for the U-21 Provincial team.
Rachel has been MVP of her school soccer team for the past three years and Athlete of the Year for 2010l. Rachel manages the junior soccer team at her high school and captains her varsity squad, while also serving as captain for the basketball and volleyball teams.
A quote from her coach says “A great defender who reads the game well. Rachel is aggressive and quick to the ball. She loves to join the attack by overlapping. Rachel plays the game with no fear. She brings, speed, drive and skill to the team and is extremely versatile in most positions on the field”.
