HILTON HEAD, S.C. - A sweep of doubles competition led the Golden Eagles to a 7-2 victory over regional opponent Edinboro, Monday morning in Hilton Head, S.C.
Mallika Mali and Kelsey Hensley put together a perfect showing in No. 3 doubles to get the morning off on a strong note for the Golden Eagles (16-2). UC took wins in the other two doubles matches before the contest headed to singles play.
Edinboro (3-6) climbed back into the contest with victories in No. 1 and No. 2 singles play. The University of Charleston took control of the match to secure the win by reeling off four consecutive wins to close out singles play.
Freshman Kelsey Hensley improved to 13-1 on the season with a strong 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 4 singles position.
