ATHENS, W.Va. -
Lauren Haven (Nassau, Bahamas) netted her first career goal for the University of Charleston women's soccer team, but a Mountain Lion goal late in the second half sent the teams away with a 1-1 tie, Tuesday afternoon.
Haven put UC (3-5-1) on the scoreboard first when she found the back of the net in the 37th minute. Concord (1-5-2) lost one of their top offensive threats in the 42nd minute as Erika Hoff was sent of with a red card, yet the Mountain Lions attack persisted forcing Charleston goalkeeper
Courtney Budd (Egg Harbor, NJ) to make five saves in the opening stanza.
The Golden Eagles held a 7-4 advantage in shots after halftime, but in the 71st minute CU managed to slip past the Charleston defense for a short-handed goal that would stand as the final score of the afternoon.
Concord was outshot in the contest 16-10, but held off the Golden Eagle offense through both periods of extra time.
The game extends Charleston's unbeaten streak to four-straight games. UC returns home on Saturday, Sept. 29 for a non-conference matchup against Cedarville set for a 6:00 pm start at the Friends of Coal Fields at Trace Fork.
