SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The University of Charleston women's soccer team landed on the wrong side of the scoreboard 3-0 against No. 10 ranked Slippery Rock on a rain soaked Saturday afternoon.
UC (0-4) got off to a slow start as The Rock came out of the gates firing on all cylinders like a top-ten ranked squad should. The Golden Eagles fell behind 2-0 in the first 18 minutes of play for a deficit they wouldn't be able to threaten against.
After being outshot 6-0 in the opening stanza Charleston found some offensive production to show they had plenty of talent to play with one of the top teams in the country. SRU added a single goal when the University of Charlston goalkeeper was pulled from net, yet beyond the score UC held the advantage after halftime.
The Golden Eagles outshot Slippery Rock 6-3 in the second forcing Rock keeper Dana O'Neill to make five saves in order to preserve the shutout.
UC continues its road swing on Wednesday, Sept. 12 with a trip to 2011 NCAA Tournament participant Ashland for a 6:00 pm contest.
