Box Score Charleston, WV - The University of Charleston  women came off a big rivalry win against WV State hoping to build on the solid effort but didn't have enough to keep up with the visiting West Liberty Hilltoppers  falling 78-59.

Charleston (7-7, 4-6 WVIAC) kept pace early on actually building a small lead going into the first media timeout outscoring West Liberty 18-13.  UC was able to get in the paint and convert some easy opportunities, but that was short lived.  Coming out of the time-out, the Hilltoppers scored 19 consecutive points, quickly building a 14 point advantage.  West Liberty (9-4, 7-2 WVIAC) used their size advantage and pounded the ball inside to Emily Blevins who was able to convert on six of seven shooting in half, accounting for 16 points.  UC trailed by 15 points heading into the locker room, 40-25. 

The Golden Eagles weren't able to make a dent in West Liberty's lead early in half as they maintained their 15 point cushion with 11:26 remaining on the clock.  The Hilltoppers continued to feed the post and pushed the lead out to 20 points with about left to go, 62-42. UC cut the lead to 15 again, but couldn't get any closer as UC came up on the short end of the game with the final score showing 78-59.

Charleston was lead by Keir & Kelly who each finished with 11 points.  For the game UC shot 32% going 20-62 from the floor, hitting only 2 3-pointers in 40 minutes of action.

West Liberty got big games from Emily Blevins (22 points, 10 rebounds) and Hillary Southworth (27 points).

UC will return to action next Monday, Jan. 21 as they host Seton Hill University.
