Snyder, Falcons Win Rematch Against UC Women 83-68

Box Score Fairmont, WV – Snyder and the Falcons use hot perimeter shooting to drop the Golden Eagles in a rematch from earlier this season, 83-68.

Kaitlin Snyder, reigning WVIAC Player of the Year, filled the stat sheet coming one assist shy of a triple-double scoring 21 points, grabbing 15 rebounds and dishing out 9 assists to avenge an earlier loss to UC earlier in the year.

Charleston (10-8, 7-7 WVIAC) came into the game riding a three game win streak including an emotional buzzer beater win against AB on Monday evening and was looking to make it four in a row.  Fairmont (13-6, 11-3 WVIAC) has been very good at home including being a perfect 5-0 against WVIAC opponents in Joe Retton Arena, so the Golden Eagles knew getting a victory would be extremely tough.

At the end of the night, Charleston didn’t have enough to get the win but fought hard throughout the entire contest.  UC would fall behind by as many as 20 points in the second half as Fairmont seemed to knock down every attempt at the basket.  The Golden Eagles would eventually cut the lead to nine points with nearly two minutes remaining in the contest and had a chance to get it down to a two possession game, but couldn’t get an important three to fall.

Fairmont would close out the game from the free throw line resulting in a 15-point victory for the Falcons, 83-68. The Falcons shot 57% for the contest including hitting on 8 of 13 from deep.

Chelsea Brumby (Chandler, AZ) continued her strong play from the bench scoring 14 points on six of eight shooting.  Charleston returns to action Saturday in another road contest against Ohio Valley.
