CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- University of Charleston forced an extra five minutes with Fairmont State but ultimately suffered a defeat, 78-75, in overtime on Thursday evening at the Eddie King Gymnasium.

The Falcons are now 4-2 overall and 2-1 in MEC game. UC falls to 5-2 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Chyress Lockhart had a game-high 32 points after going 12-of-22 from the floor and 4-of-6 from behind-the-arc. LeAnne Ross added 17 points after draining a trio of three-pointers in the game.

Makenzie White led the Falcons with 24 points, five rebounds and four assists in the victory. Brianna Innocent came off the bench to record a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Hallie Gunnoe and Emily Lohr also reached double figures with 16 and 10 respectively.

Fairmont State shot 45 percent from the field and 46 percent from three-point range in the victory. UC hit 43 percent of its shots and went 9-of-27 from three-point range.

UC returns to action Sunday to take on the Shepherd University Rams with tipoff set for 2:00pm in Shepherdstown.
