Box Score Institute, WV - The University of Charleston couldn't match the Yellow Jackets in the paint or on the glass as they fall 78-56 in the cross town rivalry.

UC would throw the first punch in the rematch from earlier in the season in which the Golden Eagles would be victors, but this time around WV State would answer back after trailing 16-6 early in the game.  From that point on, the Yellow Jackets would outscore Charleston 33-14 for the remainder of the half, taking the lead into locker room, 39-30.

The Golden Eagles had no answer for WV State inside, as the Yellow Jackets would outrebound UC 57 to 31, including 21 offensive rebounds leading to 24 second chance points for the home team. 

Charleston would get as close as five points late in the second half after a Jessi Cowden (Tomball, TX) jumper, but WV State answered with 15 consecutive points as the Golden Eagles would't score a point for the final five minutes and 11 seconds. 

The Golden Eagles had two double digit scorers with Nichole Perry (Poseyville, IN) scoring 16 and Cowden going for 13.  WV State was led Jasmine Blanton (25 pts., 7 rebounds) and Asia Greenlead (21 pts., 13 rebounds).

Charleston would finish the season 14-12 overall and 11-11 in WVIAC games.  That record earned them the 9th place spot in the WVIAC rankings and sets up a rematch of last years 1st round game as they travel to Pitt-Johnstown Monday to take on the Mountain Cats at 7pm.
