Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Golden Eagles opened their inaugural season in the Mountain East Conference against the Rams of Shepherd University on Saturday afternoon. 
The Golden Eagles dominated possession for much of the afternoon.  In the 40^th minute, Shepherd's Kasey Canterbury settled a loose ball on the far right side of the pitch a hit a 35 yard bomb in the far 90 over the stretched UC keeper Jennifer Poppe (Barrie, Canada) to give the Rams a 1-0 lead at the break.

The second half found UC chasing the game.  UC again claimed the game in possession but the pace was a bit more frantic with UC creating several opportunities.  With 17 seconds left in regulation, senior Kimberly D'Angelo (Lindenhurst, NY) beat two Shepherd defenders inside the 18 and slotted a ball past Shepherd's netminder Elizabeth Wise for the games equalizer.

UC again played good futbol in both overtimes and senior Brittany Loveland (Cheswick, PA) rattled a shot off the crossbar in the second overtime.  On the day, UC outshot the Rams 24-10.  Shepherd's keeper Elizabeth Wise played a tremendous game for the Rams. 

UC returns to action on Wednesday at Notre Dame College followed by a Saturday game at Urbana.
