Box Score Urbana, Ohio -
Isabella Jaffin (Nescopeck, PA) had a day she wouldn't soon forget scoring three goals in a furious 11 minute span in the second half to bring the Golden Eagles back from a two-goal deficit to defeat Urbana University, 3-2.
Despite outplaying the Blue Knights for much of the first 45 minutes, Charleston found themselves down two goals heading into the break and destined for their second consecutive MEC loss.Â
Jaffin, coming off of a concussion injury, had other plans. It all started in the 51st when Bella got a fortunate deflection off of a Blue Knight defender that allowed her to put away an easy chance when the ball fell to her feet. About six minutes later Jaffin finished off some build up by
Kimberly D'Angelo (Lindenhurst, NY) and
Holly Bigg (Limehouse, Canada) and tucked away another chance to even the score at two.
Her final and game winning goal came at the 62nd minute mark when Bigg picked out a streaking Jaffin who cleverly chipped a shot over the Blue Knight keeper. The 3-2 score would hold up for the Golden Eagles and push their record to 3-2-1 on the 2013 season.Â
Charleston will travel to Wheeling Wednesday for another important MEC contest before returning home next Saturday to face West Liberty.
