Box Score Buckhannon, W.Va. - The Golden Eagles overcame a halftime deficit and poor shooting to edge the host West Virginia Wesleyan College Bobcats 63-57 Saturday afternoon at the Rockefeller Arena.
UC was led by Chyress Lockhart who finished the game with 22 points, going 18-for-21 from the charity stripe. Nichole Perry added 11 points for the Golden Eagles, knocking down three 3-pointers.Â
The Bobcats had three players in double figures, led by Kiki Devane's 15 points and nine rebouds. Allie Browne chipped in a solid stat line of 12 points, eight steals, seven assists, and five rebounds in the losing effort.
Charleston went into break trailing the Bobcats by five, 22-27, and struggled from the floor going 7-for-30 from the field for 23% shooting. UC was able to overcome the ice cold shooting of the first half to slightly improve from the floor, but was efficient from the free throw line scoring 22 of their 41 points from the line. More importantly they knocked them down at 82% for the game which ultimately led to the six point victory.
The win improved the Golden Eagles to 7-2 on the season and 3-2 in the Mountain East Conference. UC gets back in action Monday to host Glenville State Pioneers at 5:30pm.
