URBANA, Ohio - The #3 ranked University of Charleston Men's Soccer team defeated Urbana University 7-1, in an Mountain East Conference match-up on a cold and rainy day in Urbana, Ohio.

Scoring has been a trend this season for the Golden Eagles as they lead the nation in scoring offense. This match proved to be no different.
Felipe Rafael Antonio (Sao Paulo, Brazil) got UC on the board early as he followed up his own rebound in just the 14th minute making it 1-0. The MEC Offensive Player of the Week,
Augusto Maciel (Sao Paulo, Brazil) started his scoring frenzy for the day just 10 minutes later putting UC up 2-0 in the 24th minute. Charleston continued to push offensively but the half finished at 2-0.

The second half opened up for the Golden Eagles and
Michael Hagarty (Wellington, New Zealand) slotted one past Urbana's goalkeeper off an assist from Maciel in the 51st minute. Maciel, then got his second goal of the match in the 58th minute off of a rebound from
Lewis Osborne (Wakefield, England). With a 4-0 lead, Urbana continued to press and eventually got on the score sheet after a 35-yard strike by Aaron Burt, beating UC's goalkeeper
Justin Bryant (Amelisaburg, Ontario) making it 4-1. However, the Golden Eagles would not be phased as Maciel earned his hat trick on the match in the 65th minute, making him the leading goal scorer for UC. With a 5-1 edge, Charleston continued to attack as
Jules Gabbiadini (York, England) received a cross from
Leighton Richards (Glen Allen, VA) in which he controlled and calmly placed past the Blue Knight's goalkeeper in the 85th minute. Just two minutes later, freshman
Dion Stergiotis (Oakville, Ontario) finished the game off with his second goal of the season giving UC the 7-1 advantage. Bryant earned the win in goal with 3 saves.

UC remains unbeaten at 12-0-1 overall and 8-0-1 in the MEC. The Golden Eagles return home this Saturday afternoon as they take on Cedarville in a regional match-up. Kick off is at 4pm at Schoenbaum Stadium.
