MURFREESBORO- The University of Charleston women's basketball team ended the nonconference portion of their season with a 55-53 road loss to Chowan University on Saturday afternoon. The loss was the Eagles' first out of conference loss on the season. The Hawks improve to 4-6 on the season while the Golden Eagles move to 7-3 on the year with the setback.Â
Alisha Mobley led the effort for the Hawks with 13 points. Chantel Roberts posted a double-double performance with 10 points and 10 rebounds (three offensive, seven defensive). Jordan Payne added eight points and Naima Harrington added seven points for the Blue and White.Â
Nichole Perry led all players in the game with 22 points for Charleston.Â
Kiara Johnson chipped in 11 points and hauled in 10 rebounds (three offensive, seven defensive) while DeJanique Reddix and LeAnne Ross scored seven points apiece in the loss.
Charleston returns to action at the start of the New Year when they host West Virginia Wesleyan College. The MEC contest tips-off at 2:00pm on January 3rd in the Eddie King Gymnasium.
