Lockhart's 25 Guides UC to win Over Cardinals

Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Chyress Lockhart's 25 points off the bench led Charleston to a double-digit win over the visiting Wheeling Jesuit University Cardinals Monday evening at the Eddie King Gymnasium.
 
Lockhart led the way with her 25 points while LeAnne Ross knocked down four three-pointers on her way to 15 points and Tianni Kelly hit on six of her eight attempts to add 12 points. 
 
Jaila Bryant paced the Cardinals with 19 points and six rebounds while playing all 40 minutes in the losing effort.
 
A strong first half shooting effort from the Golden Eagles allowed them to grab an eight point lead, 41-33, going into the break.  UC was deadly from deep in the first 20 minutes, knocking down five of eight attempts from behind the arc.  Charleston was led by LeAnne Ross and Chyress Lockhart  who each contributed nine first half points.  The Cardinals got a big first half from sophomore guard Jaila Bryant who led all scorers with 13. 
 
After trimming the UC lead to six with 6:18 to go, UC turned to Lockhart down the stretch to easily walk away with a 17-point win over the visiting Cardinals.  Lockhart scored 12 points over the final 6 minutes that gave UC the 81-64 victory.
 
The win for the Golden Eagles improves their overall record to 13-6 and 9-6 in the Mountain East.  UC gets back in action on Thursday evening as they host WV Wesleyan with tip set for 5:30
