Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. –  The Golden Eagles survived an upset minded Bobcat team from West Virginia Wesleyan Thursday evening at the Eddie King Gymnasium, holding on to a 55-42 MEC victory.

Charleston got double-figure scoring from LeAnne Ross and Nichole Perry together totaled 28 points and knocked down eight shots from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles hit on exactly half of their three point attempts, making 13 of 26 on the night. Turnovers plagued UC on the evening, committing 20 on the evening.

The Bobcats also had two double-figure scorers, led by Brittany Williams 11 on four of nine shooting.Â

UC struggled early from the field scoring only two points over the first ten minutes of the contest before going on a 17-0 run to grab a 19-9 lead with 3:18 to go. Going into the break Charleston held a 15-point advantage, 28-13.

The Bobcats would trim the Golden Eagle lead down to nine, 41-32, at the 6:59 mark after a Brittany Williams three-point play only to see UC respond with five straight and a 14-point lead. Charleston did enough down the stretch to hold onto a 55-42 win.

With the win Charleston improves to 14-6 overall and 10-6 in MEC play. UC goes on the road Saturday to face top-10 nationally ranked Glenville State with tip set for 2:00.
