ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Charleston Women's Tennis team picked up another win in Florida on Thursday afternoon, defeating Eckerd College by a match score of 5-4.
UC took an early 2-1 lead after double play, with No. 1 doubles tandem of Ana Pena and Kelsey Hensley picking up an 8-6 win, and at No. 2 doubles Marieve Edwards and Taylor Todd cruised to an 8-4 victory.
Following doubles, Charleston and Eckerd split the six singles matches to give UC the 5-4 match win. The Golden Eagles got straight set winning efforts from Hensley at No. 2, Edwards at No. 3, and freshman Jackie Bakos at the No. 4 position.
The match concluded the Spring Break trip for the women's tennis team, who now returns to Charleston to face Winston Salem State University on March 21 at 10 a.m.
Charleston's overall record for 2013-14 now stands at 11-8 overall.
