Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Golden Eagle women's soccer program hosted the Cardinals of Wheeling Jesuit on a beautiful afternoon at Trace Fork fields. UC would dominate the majority of possession on the day en route to the 5-1 MEC win.Â
Freshman
Ivey Nucilli (Fairmont, WV) scored first after a ball was served in on a corner at the 18:53 mark. The ball fell inside the six amongst several players and Ivey tucked it away. Wheeling's Sydney Lavengood would strike with five minutes remaining in the half at 40:15. Lavengood received a ball at the mid line, beat a UC defender as UC's net minder came off of her line to make the save on top of the 18, Lavengood would slot the ball away and change the momentum of the game in Wheeling's favor.Â
In the second half, UC would real off four goals. Ivey Nucilli scored her second of the game, 51:21, as her crafty and composed footwork inside the six beat the Jesuit keeper. Ivey was then brought down in the box at the 64 minute mark and senior captain,
Holly Bigg (Limehouse, Ontario)made quick work of the penalty shot. Freshman
Maria Camila Torres (Bogota, Colombia) slipped a ball through to Holly Bigg just three minutes later, 67:06, for a textbook finish and her second goal of the match. The final goal would be scored by junior
Lauren Haven (Nassau, Bahamas) at the 71:16 to wrap up the day's scoring
UC will travel to play the Hilltoppers of West Liberty on Saturday for a scheduled 2pm kickoff. UC overall record improved to 4-2-1 and 3-1 in MEC action.
