Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. -Â The University of Charleston women's soccer dismantled a hungry Mountain Lion this afternoon at Trace Fork Fields by a score a 3-0 with senior Brittany Akers scoring a pair of goals in the Golden Eagle victory.
The Golden Eagles (5-3-1, 4-2 MEC) would strike first as junior,
Lauren Haven (Nassau, Bahamas) would find senior,
Brittany Akers (Roanoke, VA) inside the six for her first goal of the match at the 21:03 mark. Akers would strike again at 26:48 mark off of an assist by senior,
Holly Bigg (Limehouse, Ontario). Akers received a slotted ball through and finished off of the far post and in. The score going into the half was 2-0 in the favor of the Golden Eagles.
The Mountain Lions came out in the second half and mounted an attack, pressuring the Charleston defense in an effort to turn the game around. The UC defense would not concede a goal and the team would own much of the possession throughout. The final goal of the match came off of the foot of junior,
Courtney Underwood (Hurricane, WV) boot from a corner. Junior,
Isabella Jaffin (Nescopeck, PA) would finish with a textbook header in the upper 90 at the 64:51 point in the match.
UC held the edge in shots for the day 16 to 6 as the UC defenders and freshman,
Zoe Zyta (Listowel, Ontario) recorded a clean sheet.Â
