Charleston, W.Va. -Â The University of Charleston Women's Soccer Team hosted the West Liberty University Hilltoppers on Sunday afternoon. The Golden Eagles had previously beaten the Hilltoppers 1-0 earlier in the season; however, the Golden Eagles could not pull away with a victory this time despite outshooting the Hilltoppers 15-3.
Both halves of the game were exciting with plenty of scoring opportunities. Senior defender Amanda McKee (Mechanicsburg, PA) created a great chance off a header in the opening minutes but the Hilltopper player on the post was able to clear it away. Minutes later, senior Courtney Underwood (Hurricane, WV) was able to slip the ball past the Hilltopper keeper, but the goal was called back on an offside call. UC would create one last great chance before regulation time ended, but again came up short.
The Golden Eagles return to action Thursday for a big game as they travel to play for second place against Notre Dame College.Â
