CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Women's Tennis team suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Mountain East Conference rival West Virginia State University at Schoenbaum Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
After taking two of the three doubles courts, Charleston was riding the momentum of an incredible come from behind victory by
Toni Katipa and
Silvana Slusarciuc at no. 1 doubles heading into the six singles matches. UC, however, couldn't sustain the magic eventually falling on five of the six singles courts to come up on the short end of the 6-3 match.
Â
Ana Maria Pena was the lone Golden Eagle to take a singles court, pulling out a 6-4, 6-1 win at no. 4 singles. Charleston returns to the court Friday in another tough matchup, this time it's West Liberty coming to Charleston to battle for second place in the MEC.
