Charleston Makes First Ever Appearance in NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS
---The NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Committee today announced the field of 48 teams for the 2015 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship with the University of Charleston earning the first bid in program history into the NCAA postseason.   The Golden Eagles (11-4-5) will travel to Erie, Pa. as the no. 5 ranked team in the Atlantic Region and will square off with no. 4 Ediboro (14-7-0) of the PSAC in the First Round.  

Game time is set for noon on Friday, November 13 on the campus of Gannon University, who serves as the Atlantic Region host after earning the no. 1 seed.  The winner of the Charleston/Edinboro match will take on Gannon Sunday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m.

Each of the eight regions received six championship berths. Twenty-two automatic berths are awarded for the women's soccer championship.

For first- and second-round competition, teams will be paired in their respective regions with the No. 4 seed playing the No. 5 seed; and the No. 3 seed facing the No. 6 seed Thursday, November 12 or Friday, November 13. The winner of the No.4/5 seed game will advance to play the No. 1 seed and the winner of the No. 3/6 seed game will take on the No. 2 seed on Saturday, November 14 or Sunday, November 15. All games will be played on the campus of a participating institution and will consist of two sites per region.

The two finalists in each region will advance to third- and quarterfinal-round competition to be played Friday, November 20 and Sunday, November 22. The semifinals and championship games will take place December 3 and 5 at Ashton Brosnaham Stadium in Pensacola, Florida hosted by the University of West Florida and the Pensacola Sports Association.
