Charleston Suffers Third Consecutive Setback, Fall to Urbana 35-34

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Urbana University used a late touchdown to down the Golden Eagles at UC Stadium on Saturday afternoon, defeating Charleston 35-34 to give UC their third consecutive loss.
 
The Blue Knights' Tajuan Green accounted for five touchdowns on the afternoon but saved his best for last, galloping for a 58-yard score with 2:20 remaining that proved to be the game-winner as the Golden Eagles suffered their only turnover on their final possession.  Green ran for 88 yards and two TD's and threw for 323 yards and three scores.  Cam Snow led all receivers with 165 yards on five catches including two for touchdown.
 
Charleston's backfield duo of Marvin Elam and Vernard Roberts each gained over 100 yards on the day and totaled three scores.  Anthony Fontana threw for a career-high as a Golden Eagle, completing 21 passes on 34 attempts including a TD pass to Joey Augustin.  Augustin led Charleston receivers with 92 yards on seven catches.  Elam became Charleston's second all-time leading rusher with today's effort, trailing only Jordan Roberts.
 
Jalen Nelson paced the Golden Eagle defense with 11 total tacks, three for loss, a sack and a forced fumble. 
 
The loss takes Charleston to 2-6 overall and 2-6 in MEC play.  The Golden Eagles look to put a stop to their current skid on the road next Saturday as they travel to Buckhannon, W.Va. to face West Virginia Wesleyan.
