Golden Eagles Suffer Fifth Straight Loss, Fall 34-17 at Alderson Broaddus

PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- University of Charleston was on the wrong end of a 34-17 score at Alderson Broaddus on Saturday afternoon, taking their record to 2-8  after their fifth consective loss.

Despite the loss, senior wide receiver Joey Augustin became the career leader in receiving yards at the University of Charleston after catching five passes for 173 yards and two scores.  Augustin already held the career receiving touchdown mark which he claimed in the 2015 season.  Senior linebacker Rhakeem Stallings also laid claim to a UC record, going over 100 tackles for the season after coming up with 14 stops on the afternoon.

Charleston found themselves in a 14-0 deficit midway through the first quarter before Augustin caught one of his two scores from Anthony Fontana, a 75-yard TD reception that cut the Battler lead in half, 14-7.  Trailing 20-7 late in the third, Fontana hooked up with Augustin again, this time a 60-yard catch and run that made it a one-score contest heading to the final 15 minutes.  Unfortunately for UC, Battler running back scored his second and third touchdowns of the day on his way to 232 rushing yardsv and a 34-17 win over the Golden Eagles.

Charleston returns home for their season finale and will celebrate Senior Day on Thursday, Nov. 10 at UC Stadium as the Golden Eagles host the UVa.-Wise Cavaliers.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
