BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – An 8
th inning three-run homerun by Golden Eagle third baseman Kelly Browning got Charleston one game closer to making their first trip to the NCAA DII Softball Championships in Denver.

Rachelle Toppings led off the 8
th inning by reaching first on an error by the Bobcat left fielder on a shallow fly ball. Kate Hamilton moved Toppings to second on a sacrifice bunt then the ever dangerous Laura Ashlock was walked to set the stage for Browning's three-run blast. It was no-doubter to dead center field, her second homerun of the day.Â

Charleston took the 6-3 lead into the bottom half of the inning where Charleston ace Alli Burdette forced the Bobcats into three lazy pop ups to claim game one of the NCAA DII Softball Atlantic Super Regional. Burdette picked up her 31
st win of the season after replacing Jessie Rowe who worked just 2/3 of the first inning before Coach Ray Loeser made the move to Burdette.

Wesleyan did all of their damage in the first inning, scoring all three of their runs to claim a 3-1 lead early on in the game. Charleston chipped away at the deficit in the both the 2
nd and 3
rd innings, with Browning's first HR of the day tying it up at 3-3 in the 3
rd inning.

Browning ended the afternoon going 2-for-3 with two home runs and four runs batted in. Alyssa Stanley went 3-for-4 at the plate with three singles while Kate Hamilton and Bethany Williams had an RBI each.

UC and West Virginia Wesleyan continue their best-of-3 series Thursday afternoon at Culpepper Field with first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
