Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Charleston Draws with Ashland

Ashland, OH-The Golden Eagles traveled to Ashland, Ohio to play their final in-gegion, non-conference match of the 2016 schedule. Ashland entered the game 3-0-1 overall with a #21 national ranking in Division II Women's Soccer. Charleston entered the game with a 2-1-1 overall after tying WV Wesleyan, another top-25 program in the nation.

UC dominated the first 60 minutes of play and created several quality scoring opportunities. At the 53:45 mark, freshman Rachel Neff found the back of the net after sophomore Ida Garberg's shot deflected off of Ashland keeper. The game would then turn in favor to the home team as UC absorbed the pressure until the 88:10 mark.

Ashland's Morgan Bittengle took a shot from 25 yards out which fell inside the six and Lauren Gokey managed to finish the equalizer with two minutes remaining in regulation. Neither team was able to finish the game in overtime.

UC's keeper, Zoe Zyta, finished the game with 15 saves and Ashland's netminder, Courtney Barker collected eight.

Charleston returns to action on Sunday at Fairmont State University with a 2pm kickoff.
