Loll Nets Career-High 26 in Win Over Rams

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Charleston women's basketball snapped their five-game skid behind a career-high 26 points from freshman Octavia Loll Tuesday evening as the Golden Eagles defeated Shepherd 69-53.

The UC freshman was nearly perfect from the field in leading all scorers with 26, hitting on 9-of-10 field goal attempts and knocked down all five of her shots from behind the arc.  Freshman Anna Hayton also posted a career-best 16 points while pulling down eight rebounds for the Golden Eagles.

UC came out of the gates quickly to take a commanding 24-8 lead over the Rams after the first 10-minute quarter.  The Golden Eagles continued to build on the strong start, carrying a 19-point lead into the break and 26 points after three quarters. The Rams were able to make it more respectable with a 23-point fourth quarter, but the damage was already done as the Golden Eagle cruised to the 16-point victory.

UC (5-9, 3-4 MEC) returns home this Saturday to host West Virginia Wesleyan College.  This will be a special homecoming for the Golden Eagles as University of Charleston celebrates the grand opening of the H. Bernard Wehrle Sr. Athletic Arena.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. with the Bobcats.
