How it Happened
Charleston wasted no time jumping all over the Blues, coached by former UC assistant Ryan Bailey, scoring the game's first six points in the opening 90 seconds of the contest.  The Golden Eagle lead ballooned to as many as 21 points, 28-7, in the first 10 minutes of action to set the tone for the remainder of Wednesday evening's game.

Bluefield nearly matched UC's output in the second quarter but Charleston still carried a 24-point, 45-21, lead into the halftime break. UC's Anna Hayton had a monster first half for the Golden Eagles, scoring all of her game-high 18 points in just 12 minutes of action going 8-for-10 from the field and pulling down seven rebounds.

Coach Collins was able to get a look at all 15 of his dressed players in the second half as the Golden Eagles were able to extend their lead after outscoring the Blues 28-4 in the 10-minute third quarter.  Sophomore guard Madison Jones caught fire for Charleston, scoring a career-high 14 points, all in just eight minutes in the second half.  Jones was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, knocking down four shots from behind the arc.

The Charleston defense forced Bluefield to shoot 13% (4-for-30) in the second half as the Golden Eagles cruised to the 88-36 win over Bluefield State, improving to 3-1 on the young 2017 season
