Golden Eagles Down Broncos for Third National Title Berth

KANSAS CITY, MO. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles (20-1-2) downed the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos (17-6-1) on Thursday night to advance to their third national title game.

How it Happened
-The score remained tight, with a score of 0-0 until a goal with just over two minutes to play in regulation to put Charleston on top. 
-The Golden Eagles took a corner in their first set piece of the match. Armando Tikvic found the head of Robin Lapert who put the ball on target, but the ball was saved on the goal line by a CPP defender to keep the score tied. 
-Charleston held an advantage on set pieces throughout the match, but the Golden Eagles were unable to put the ball on target.
-With 2:14 left to play in regulation the Golden Eagles worked the ball down the field to find Patrick Guier. Guier sent a hard driven ball to the keeper who knocked the ball over the line during the save attempt giving Charleston the 1-0 lead. 
-Charleston held on to win and advance to the NCAA Division 2 title game.

-The Golden Eagles are set to face Lynn University on Saturday, December 2. Kick off is slated for 3:00 p.m. CT/4:00 p.m. ET.
