CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Golden Eagles Women's Basketball picked up a solid 53-42 victory over visiting Belmont Abbey College on Tuesday afternoon in the Wehrle Innovation Center, heading into the holiday break now 6-4 overall.

How it Happened
The Golden Eagles and Crusaders battled back and forth for the first 20 minutes as the largest margin of discrepancy was just six points at the 2:33 mark of the second quarter after an Anna Hayton three put UC up 23-17. Charleston entered halftime leading Belmont Abbey 25-22 behind 10 points from Anna Hayton and four Aloneet Durden assists.
UC scored the first bucket of the third quarter only to see the Crusaders reel off 12 straight points and claim a 34-27 midway through the period. Charleston weathered the storm and fought its way back into the lead on a Marissa Koob triple as the quarter expired, UC on top 40-38. The Golden Eagle defense was ferocious in the final 10 minutes limiting the Crusaders to just four points in the quarter as Charleston cruised to the 11-point, 53-42, win over Belmont Abbey.
Charleston's bench was the difference, outscoring the Crusaders 20-4 led Marissa Koob's nine points on three triples.
