CHARLESTON, W.Va.--Â Charleston women's tennis (11-1) got their 2017 schedule off to a solid start Friday, convincingly defeating Bluefield State and Bluefield College by 9-0 and 8-1 scores at the Charleston Tennis Club.
The Golden Eagles got Friday started by blanking the visiting Blues from Bluefield State, dropping just five games in the 9-0 victory. Â Jackie Bakos & Silvana Slusarciuc paired up to win their double match 8-0 then followed up with singles wins at 6-0, 6-0. Â The nightcap featured Charleston playing the Rams from Bluefield College, and again was dominant in their performance as the No. 3 regionally ranked Golden Eagles easily dispatched the Rams 8-1. Â Jackie Bakos was on her game again, not dropping a game in doubles and cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 at #4 singles.
The 2016 MEC tournament champions get back in action next Saturday as they travel to Southern Indiana University to take on the Screaming Eagles.
