HARTSVILLE, SC. – The University of Charleston (1-4, 0-0 MEC) came up short against the Huskies of Bloomsburg University (1-2, 0-0 PSAC) on Sunday morning in extra innings.

CHARLESTON VS. COKER
- Haleigh Christopher got the Golden Eagles going with a double to left field sending Rachelle Toppings home for the first run of the game. The Huskies went scoreless in the bottom of the first.
- Charleston saw three runners cross home plate at the top of the first, giving them the 4 run advantage. Bloomsburg answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the second to tie the game up (4-4).
- With the bases loaded at the top of the third Alyssa Stanley singled, but advanced on the throw sending two runners home for the Golden Eagles. Rachelle Toppings' single out to center field sent Stanley home. During the next at bat Karli Pinkerton sent Bailey Gogia home bringing the score to 8-4 Charleston. During the last at bat for Bloomsburg Abbey Remley singled out to left field, sending Alyssa Davies home. The score a the end of the third was 8-5 UC.
- Both teams went scoreless in the fourth. No runners found home plate for UC at the top of the fifth, but Bloomsburg cut the UC advantage to 2 runs after scoring in the bottom of the fifth.
- UC did not score in th top of the sixth. The huskies tied the game up 8-8 with a homer by Kelsey Impink that sent Emily Mayhew home as well. A scoreless seventh would send the game to an eighth inning.
- During the top of the eighth Laura Ashlock flew one out to left field sending Toppings home to give UC the one run advantage. Shelby Ume homered to center field sending Pinkerton and Toppings home. Impink homered for Bloomsburg sending one other run home. Then Natalie Quinian singled to center field sending Maggie Hall and Taylor Winkelman home for the Huskies, tying the game up 12-12. With the bases loaded and one last opportunity to score and win Bloomsburg, Bridget Casey hit a single sending Remley home for the 13-12 win.
CHARLESTON INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Shelby Ume led the Golden Eagles with 3 hits, 3 RBIs, and one home run.
