BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Softball team (37-21, 22-10 MEC) blew past Kutztown to advance to the Atlantic Regional Championship, but fell to the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan (47-7)
THE BASICS

GAME 2 –West Virginia Wesleyan 0, Charleston 0
LOCATION –BUCKHANNON, W.Va.
GAME ONE
-Kutztown jumped ahead when Asja Saito reached first base on a fielder's choice, allowing Amanda Portoff to score for the Golden Bears. During the next at bat Sara Keeny was walked with 3 runners on base to bring the score to 2-0.
-In the bottom of the third inning, Haleigh Christopher hit her 15th homer of the year to bring 3 runs in for the Golden Eagles to take the 3-2 lead.
-The Golden Eagles had a stellar fourth inning. Pinkerton singled to right field bringing Natalie Beck home before Monica Carter hit a double to right field allowing Alyssa Stanley to make it home.
-During the next at bat, Haleigh Christopher sent a double to center field that sent Pinkerton ad Carter home bringing the score to 7-2. A single by Ashlock sent Sierra Harrington home, while a single from UME sent Walkosz home.
-Charleston needed one more run to end the game to end the game in 5 innings, and Stanley hit a single to right field in the top of bottom of the fifth inning to send Natalie Beck home to bring the score to 10-2.
GAME TWO
-West Virginia Wesleyan got on the board first with a single by Olivia Gore that brought Tori Pogue home.
-In the bottom of the third inning, Gore sent a 2-run homer over the fence to bring the score to 3-0. Later in the inning Morgan Bruce hit a 3-run homer to bring the score to 6-0. Brooklyn Waddell sent a runner home with a single to left field to close out the inning.
-In the bottom of the fourth inning Morgan Bruce hit her second home run of the game to bring two more runs home to take the 9-0 victory in 5 innings.
