CHARLESTON, W.Va. – University of Charleston women's tennis remains unbeaten on the 2017-18 season after blowing past visiting West Virginia Wesleyan College, 9-0, Thursday afternoon at the Ivan Bolarsky Tennis Center in Coonskin Park.
UC rolled to a 3-0 lead following doubles, sweeping all three courts in easy fashion with the closest match being at No. 2 doubles as Elise Edwards and Silvana Slusarciuc picked up an 8-3 victory.
The Golden Eagles kept the momentum rolling into singles play, winning five of the six courts in straight sets with freshman No. 1 Katie Swann blanking Rebekkah Heigermoser, the reigning MEC Player of the Week, 6-0, 6-0. Alize Uyttenhove battled back from being down a set to scratch out a three-set victory at No. 5 as UC ran their overall record to 5-0 and 4-0 in Mountain East Conference matches.
