CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston women's tennis made quick work of Shepherd University at the Ivan Bolarksy Tennis Center on Saturday morning, sweeping the visiting Rams 9-0 to improve their overall record to 6-0 and 5-0 in Mountain East Conference matches.
UC breezed through doubles, dropping only three games in the three matches to take a 3-0 lead into singles behind a strong showing at No. 1 doubles as Katie Swann and
Kristine Gegeshidze (Tbilisi, Georgia) blanked Shepherd 8-0.
Charleston won all six singles in straight sets as no Ram player won more than three games in a set. Highlighting singles play was Gegeshidze's performance at No. 2 singles, defeating Shepherd's Alisha Adkins 6-0, 6-0 in quick fashion.
Charleston makes the short trip south to Athens, W.Va. on Monday to take on Concord University before hosting their conference rival and MEC preseason favorite West Virginia State on Wednesday.
