How it Happened
Charleston tallied three first half goals, the first coming off the head of
Thomas Vancaeyezeele in the 8
th minute from a corner kick assist by
Kieran Bywater. It would be Vancaeyezeele's first goal of the young season. Ten minutes later,
Ettore Ballestracci added another goal to his resume that gave Charleston a 2-0 lead over the Mountain Lions. Ballestracci has scored a goal in each of the first three matches this year.
Patrick Guier got in on the scoring action in the 33
rd minute, beating the Concord keeper on a beautifully taken free kick that bent around the wall and found the top right corner of the net to give UC a 3-0 lead going into halftime.
Charleston's offense slowed a bit in the second half, but
Will Roberts would put the Golden Eagles up 4-0 after beating the onrushing Concord keeper with a clever chip. Roberts found himself one-on-one with the keeper following a precision pass from Guier that made its way through the Mountain Lion defense.
