SALEM, W.Va. -- After more than a week away from the courts UC women's tennis traveled to Salem University to earn a 5-2 victory over the Tigers on Wednesday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles picked up the doubles point by sweeping all three courts to claim an early 1-0 lead over the hosts heading into singles.  Senior Elise Edwards and freshman Regina Saucedo put Charleston up 3-0 as they were the first two courts completed in singles play at No. 3 & No. 5 singles.  Salem battled back to make it a one-point match after claiming wins over Katie Swann and Silvana Slusarciuc at No. 2 and No. 4 singles.  UC would pull through behind Kristine Gegeshidze's 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles that clinched the match.  Freshman Mathilde Simon added the final touches on the 5-2 victory picking up a straight set win on the No. 6 court.
Charleston returns to the court on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Bluefield, W.Va.. to take on Belmont Abbey College. Â First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
