CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles (6-5, 6-4 MEC) finished above .500 this season with a 28-6 victory over the Glenville State Pioneers (5-6, 5-5 MEC).

How it Happened
Neither offense could find the endzone in the first quarter, but the Golden Eagles would strike first with a 27-yard field goal by Kevin Weiman. Charleston held the lead for the rest of the third quarter, and gave themselves the 10-0 advantage after driving 66 yards, when Mason Olszewski connected with Mike Strachan on a six-yard pass for the touchdown.
The Pioneers came out of the half and closed the gap between Glenville and UC with a 84-yard bomb by Jaylen McNair to Javon Butler to give Glenville their first touchdown of the game. Up 10-6 the Golden Eagles blocked the point after and Reggie Collins ran the ball back 98 yards to give UC the 12-6 lead. Less than four minutes later the Golden Eagles struck again, with a keeper by Olszewski who took the ball one yard for the score.
The Golden Eagles increased their lead to 21-6 with a safety to close the third quarter. Charleston put the stamp on the victory with a five-yard run by Jimmy Wheeler late in the fourth quarter to give UC the 28-6 victory.

-Mason Olszewski completed 19-of-24 passes for 203 yards, the senior QB led the Golden Eagles in rushing with 49 yards and 1 TD.
-Mike Strachan led Charleston in receiving with five receptions for 55 yards.
-Sophomore nose guard Kenny Randal led the field with 10 tackles, 6 TFLs, and 1 sack.
