CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles (18-1-2) found themselves trailing for the first time this season. West Chester packed it in following the early goal, holding off the Golden Eagles to advance to the round of eight.
With the first loss of the season the West Chester Golden Rams will face Adelphi University on Saturday. The Adelphi Panthers defeated LIU Post 2-0 on Thursday to move on to Saturday's match.
In the 13th minute of the match Stephen Thompson got ahold of a loose ball at the top of the 18 firing it far post. The ball bounced back to the opposite side of the net. The Rams were only able to get three shots off in the match, to the Golden Eagles 10.
The Golden Eagles were unable to find the back of the net with nine second half opportunities.
The Golden Eagles close the season 18-1-2.
