HARTSVILLE, SC -- The University of Charleston Golden Eagles (4-2) closed out their first weekend of play with a pair of wins and a pair of losses in the Coker Spring Tournament. 
GAME 1 v. King College (Tenn.)
The Golden Eagles faced King College (Tenn.) to open the tournament. King opened up the scoring in the top of the first when Jenna Burnett hit a single to center field allowing Candace Maness to score. Haleigh Christopher hit her 17th career homerun for the Golden Eagles in the bottom of the first to tie it up. The bats went silent for the Golden Eagles after the Tornados scored a pair of runs until Danielle Norton singled to center field sending Walkosz and Dutton home to give UC the 4-3 lead. King would score three runs in the top of the fifth to go up 6-4, and a homerun by Charleston would be their final score of the day. King scored three more in the top of the sixth to seal the 9-5 victory. 
GAME 2 v. West Virginia Tech
West Virginia Tech took a quick 2-0 lead in the second inning, followed by three scoreless innings for each team. In the sixth Karli Pinkerton hit a double to left field sending Shelby Ume and Rachel Rousch home to tie the game up for Charleston. Siarra stepped in on the next at bat and cracked a three-run homer to center field to give UC the 5-2 lead. Tech tied the game up at 5-5 in the seventh inning to send the game into extra innings. Kendal Marshall's SAC fly to send Siarra Harrington home for the Golden Eagles giving them the 6-5 victory. 
GAME 3 v. Bloomsburg University
Haleigh Christopher got the game going for the Golden Eagles with her 18th career homerun to give UC the 2-0 lead in the first. A stellar 5-run second inning for the Huskies gave Bloomsburg the 5-2 lead. Charleston tied the game up in the bottom of the second. The scored remained tied until a three-run homer for Bloomsburg in the top of the fourth gave the Huskies a 9-6 lead over Charleston. The Golden Eagles brought the game within one score in the bottom of the fourth, but a four-run seventh inning from Bloomsburg seal the 14-8 victory over Charleston. 
GAME 4 v. Lees-McRae
The Golden Eagles got on the board first in the final game of the Coker Spring Tournament when Ansley Warner hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to give UC the lead. Cassidy of Lees-McRae reached on an error allowing LMC to score in the bottom of the seventh to tie it up 2-2 sending the game into extra innings. The scored was tied 3-3 in through the eighth, but an error by the Lees-McRae third baseman in the top of the ninth allowed Emily Dutton to score for the Golden Eagles. Lees-McRae was unable to score in the bottom of the ninth giving Charleston the 4-3 victory.

The Golden Eagles will be on the road March 2 to face the University of Mount Olive. The double header will begin at 2:00 p.m.
